The Trouble with Lucy is a light-hearted and sweet romance. Reading it didn’t require me to think a great deal, which at the time I read it, I sorely needed. It was at times a funny and amusing book to read.Lucy and Tom are obviously very well-suited and seem to be pretty keen on each other despite her not being single and his previous bad luck with women. There is chemistry between the two that just seems to happen, and doesn’t appear forced.
The town of Lillypilly sounded like a nice place. It wasn’t an unfair caricature of a small country town, which sometimes they become in romantic comedies.
It did grate on me a little, however, that Lucy had this boyfriend she didn’t particularly seem to like and was angry at anyway for abandoning her at a difficult time to move to New York. Despite all this and her obvious attraction to Tom, Lucy keeps trying to convince herself to remember him. Honestly, if my other half buggered off to New York immediately after I was involved in a potentially major medical emergency, I’d kick him square in the knackers.
With regard to Lucy’s medical emergency (the reason for her stay in Lillypilly), maybe I’m too picky, but knowing as I do a number of people with epilepsy, I just can’t picture the doctors telling them to flit off to the countryside straight afterwards without a little further investigation of the root cause.
Other than those two issues, I actually enjoyed this book quite a bit. Viewed through Lucy’s eyes, Zoe’s rather interesting fashion sense became very vivid and provided for a few laughs.
L.J. Young has written a light, mostly happy romance. I may not have enjoyed everything about it, but by no means did I dislike it.

A great, funny, romance. I actually had laugh out loud moments and really warmed to the characters and their journey.
I loved this story...Lucy and Tom are a gorgeous couple and the story had lots of laugh out loud moments. I ended it with a smile on my face, and you can't ask more than that can you?
Not a great book, but not too bad. Not written in American English so I was occasionally flummoxed by word choice. All in all, it was a light, easy read that took up a few hours one afternoon. Nothing new but well-written and amusing.
